Why did you choose Aquaculture?
I think Aquaculture chose me 
I knew I wanted to do something to do with the ocean, but I wasn’t quite sure what. Both my BSc and MSc were marine science based thus I thought I’d pursue a career in research, but Aubrey (our Manager) convinced me otherwise. I started off with aquaculture research but that gradually changed to a more policy-oriented position. My science background is a plus as it enables me to help steer policies in a more evidence-based direction.

From when I first joined the section there were just two of us, the team has gradually got bigger and thus we’ve seen more enthusiast young people. In the future I would like to see the involvement of more people, be it in government or as entrepreneurs. Obviously, I would also like to see the sector grow and have a positive influence on our economy.
