Members of the media were invited by the SFA to a press conference on Thursday 8th September at the Espace building, to inform the general public on an upcoming Mud Crab Survey Stock Assessment.
As there has been growing interest in the species and its potential for farming, the survey is being done in order to have a better understanding of the wild Mud Crab population, distribution, abundance and its potential for aquaculture in Seychelles. The stock assessment will take place over the next 12 months in phases, at different locations in the country. A questionnaire is currently being used to gather essential data from fishers and farmers of the species. Attached is a copy of the presentation shown during the press conference which includes links to the questionnaire.
